Steve Sturla takes
us on a hysterical tour of the quirky side of Hollywood, where
everyone has a story to tell. Hollywood has all the
characters. Who needs fiction when you have Hollywood?!
Steve brings you up close and personal with all of them.
The best and worst of Hollywood in a riotous weekly half hour
show.
The glamour of Hollywood has been well documented, but Real
Hollywood shines a spotlight on a side of the city seldom seen
by the general public. Hollywood is a strange, quirky, bizarre
place, with a rich cast of characters all its own – of has-beens
and wannabes, all seeking to reinvent themselves. This is the
side of the entertainment community that Real Hollywood seeks to
reveal.
We have placed special emphasis on actors on the way up and
those who have already had their day. Some featured
segments:
-
Old Hollywood –
Interviews with stars of yesteryear, such as Mamie Van Doren,
Mackenzie Phillips, Lana Wood, Antonio Fargas, etc. We’ll
also introduce those with fleeting or cult fame like
ex-playmates and stars such as Tura Satana (Faster,
Pussycat, Kill Kill) or Dolores Fuller (Ed Wood’s
actress/girlfriend).
-
Morning Stroll –
A stroll down Hollywood Boulevard in the morning always
yields bleary-eyed tourists vainly hoping to see George
Clooney. The only people on the Walk of Fame at this time of
day are the locals – hardcore street denizens drifting
aimlessly past Popeye’s Chicken. We’ll meet them, too, on
our Morning Stroll.
-
Only in Hollywood –
The name says it all… we’ll take in some standup comedy at a
laundromat, pay a visit to an 85-year-old mime in a
motorized wheelchair, and attend an evening of live open mic
performances at a beauty parlor.
-
Starlet of the Week - Each
week, an up and coming actress is featured as the “Starlet
of the Week.” She also serves as the guest host for the
week. We’ll spend the week with her – from the server gig
to the casting office, the commute from the Westside to the
Valley, and every fast-paced and melodramatic moment in
between.
Steve Sturla is the creator/host of Real Hollywood. As an
actor, writer and filmmaker, Steve has worked on dozens of indie
movies and mainstream and indie TV shows. He's the writer and
star of the upcoming Film Noir comedy, Little Saigon.
Currently, he has a recurring role on G4's Attack of the
Show.
Steve has done extensive sketch, improvisational and stand-up
comedy. He has performed at top comedy venues including the
world famous L.A. Improv, Hollywood Comedy Store, The Ice House,
HBO Workspace and others. He directed and produced the pilot
episode of Gary Carter Talkin' Sports, a
sports talk show starring Hall of Fame baseball player Gary
Carter, former catcher with the Montreal Expos and New York
Mets. Most recently, he has been working with Imagine
Productions in Miami on a reality show.
Steve has lived in Hollywood for 15 years and has a sharp
hosting style - he’s engaging, charming, and very funny, with a
knack of attracting the wildest characters. He realizes
that the real captivating interview subjects are the stars of
the past who no longer have to act politically correct – when
Lana Wood calls Ryan O’Neal “the biggest jerk” she ever worked
with and director Vincent Sherman reveals his affairs with Bette
Davis and Joan Crawford, Steve knows it’s GREAT!
